np 203 question
okay it seems my differential is toast in my np 203. If I am not mistaken doesn't one of the part time kits do away with the differential in the transfer case. My truck operates normally in the loc positions just makes horrible noise in hi and lo but does not move. I guess I am asking if the part time kit would be a fix or my transfer case needs a total rebuild. It is hard to shift in the regular hi and lo positions TIA

Nasty sound
I'm not sure what transfer case I have. I am getting really nasty sound. I tried shifting into different gears, but something doesn't sound right. If I am in another gear other than closest to the bench I hear the noise really bad and my transmission Park-Drive are all neutral.

The part time kit I put in my 203 back in the early 90's I removed some small gears and put in some wedge shaped pieces and then the lock outs in the front. It's been a long time so I don't remember all of it. Mine was working fine when I did it. Still does but I have a parts truck with a 205 that might go in soon.

well I guess i am going to have to pull my transfer case and see what I find. I would see if you would see me your 203 but would cost an arm and a leg to ship down here. I have been wanting to convert to part time anyway. So maybe I can get a little better than 9 mpg. I first thought the problem was my rearend...I opened it up and it is fine. Now time to put in the detroit since the third member is out. If I keep having problems I am going to have one hell of a truck.
