I did some searching, but many of the posts are a few years old. So at the risk of asking repeat questions...I'd like to hear from you folks that have replaced the stock fuel tank with a larger gas tank from Transfer Flow. Diesel guys can reply, but I'm particularly interested in the gas versions...
I've researched costs and I know they're expensive. I've seen the units that go into the truck bed, but I'm leaning towards the full replacement units to keep my bed clear.
Subscribing. I’ve looked into this myself. Heck, you’ve got the long bed with a larger tank. I’ve got a short bed with a much smaller tank…while towing I don’t get too far down the road before it’s time to stop for fuel.<O</O
I've thought about but heck $1000 for 10 gallon capacity more didn't sound that great. I figured I'm going to stop for a pi$$ break anyways combine them two together.
For us short bed owners it's almost 20 gallon increase over stock. It is a lot of money and not in the top five upgrades I would like to do. But does keep moving up the list the more cross country traveling I do pulling the trailer.

Tell me the good, bad and ugly...
I did some research on this when I bought my SD. I have a 2009 F250 SD 4x4 crew cab with an 8' bed. It came with a 38 gallon gas tank. I bought my truck new in feb of 2010.
So I emailed transfer flow to see about a bigger gas tank. I wouldnt mind another 10 or 15 gallons more. But I wanted a gas tank to replace the stock one. I want to keep my bed clear for stuff also. To my disappointment they do not make one for GASSERS only for DIESEL.
So I thought that was really weird, It did not make sense to me that a gas tank company didnt make one for that application for gas but in diesel they do. Thats BULLS#@!.
I do not know if they will work in either type of veh. But the email they sent stated they would not. I would have to buy one that went into the bed of the truck. This was back in March of 2010. Maybe they have made one. Please let me know if you find one.
I've got the Transfer Flow tank and like it! (except at $1.00 per litre). The 46 gal (170l) capacity has been benificial when towing my 5th wheel. The only downfall is there's no way that I've found to calibrate the fuel gauge to the sensor. The gauge still works but when it shows empty theres probably about 10-15 gal of fuel left because it is a deeper and longer tank. But after a lot of travelling I basically know when I'm near empty. As for ground clearance your factory exhaust, running boards and rear end stick down further. (see pics) The tank was installed when I bought the truck from a friend of mine (in 2007) so he paid for the tank and did the install himself. He said it took about 4 hours and was quite easy to do. All the instructions were included and you reuse you factory fuel sending unit and pump. He's already installed an aftermarket tank in his dirtymax. I should also mention that the tank I have is a steel tank, vs the diesel application is plastic. Not sure what the reasoning is or if they have changed the design in the past few years.
