High idle 5.8l
Hello. I have a f-250 with a high Idle, its typical around 1000+ rpm. I have checked all kinds of vaccum hoses visually and by using the propane bottle method. The base timing is verified 10 degrees before tdc. Does anyone have any other thoughts? Anything to point me in the right way would help. Thanks

I have found using a hand held vacuum pump/gauge to be the most reliable way to check for vacuum circuit leaks. You could have a huge hole in one of the metal vacuum reservoirs, your propane method may not find it, the vacuum gauge will. High idle RPM is almost always caused by a vacuum leak somewhere. Unless a PO has fiddled with the throttle body stop screw....

I did check the IAC a while back the solenoid was shorted out. I got another one from the wrecking yard checked it with a 12v battery and it worked fine. I installed it, didnt seem to make much a difference. I am going to try to test the TPS just as its a fairly easy test then get a vacuum pump tester and try that out. Any one have any other thoughts?
