Air filter question..

Hey guys I just looked on Riffraffs website and saw the 6637 kit and really want to get it but wanted to see if anyone has tried the K&N filer kit and which one would be better. I know Ive seen alot of guys have the 6637 but dont know if I should get that or just spend the money and get the K&N.

Thanks,
-AJ

The 6637 is better than the K&N in most folks opinion here. The K&N have been known to let dust through and the result is a dusted turbo.I have the 6637 with a Pete's Cover and really like the filtration and the sound.
That kit is an easy install as well

sounds good! thanks for the info. I was going to head that route especially since the K&N is alot more expensive.

with the cover on it how would you install the filter minder?

And I looked through some posts and didnt notice a bracket for the filter to tie to so it doenst bounce. Am I just missing it or does it just sit there?

I think most here have thrown the filter minder in the trash. You can leave it connected and just zip tie it beside the filter if you like.
Some have built boxes for the 6637 and most like me have it laying where the factory filter box WAS!!!
Good luck

When I installed my 6637 filter I installed a tube in the side of the 4 inch adapter pipe and installed it back in.

I installed my 6637 2 weeks ago and trust me it won't move. The hood comes down and keeps it in place . On my 99.5 I left the filter base in and it fits just fine. The hood just ever so slightly compresses it and keeps it in place. I think most everyone has the same situation, from what I have read here.

Same with me.
Filter minder in the trash.
TieWrap the temp sensor to the fuse box bracket. Right behind the filter..
Remove old stock filter top section.
6637 drops right in there. No straps or tie down required. It don't move. Can't. It is like it was made for it.
10 minute install.
And 10 minutes to stare at it, Ok Maybe 15 and 3 beers.. beautiful thing.
20-25 minutes tops unless you stare longer.

In line with the intake hose when I do the CCV mod Ill have the opening in the intake hose where the CCV would normally hook up. Ive seen that some guys put rubber plugs over the nipple end or they have taken the section out and installed a stainless tube in its place. What size is the tube and where have you guys bought it from?
