Question Blower Motor Switch Defective?

I have a '99 Ranger with A/C. Recently the blower motor will only run with the blower speed switch in the highest position and the blower motor will then blow in the highest speed only.

Does this sound like a defective blower speed switch. This happens in the A/C or heater mode.

If it is the blower speed switch, are these hard to change?

Thank You.

This is the common symptom of a blown resistor assembly, not a defective switch.

The resistor is screwed into the HVAC plenum, usually on the passenger side.
