I've got a 95 F150 6 cyl. standard shift w/ manual 4 wheel drive shifter and manual locking hubs. When I lock the hubs, drop the clutch and shift from 2H to 4H, nothing is happening, no 4x4 light, no front wheels spinning. Any suggestions for where to start or what it might be?
Is the bulb burnt out? Is the fuse that powers the light blown? Is the connector on the t-case unplugged? Is your front driveshaft installed? What do you mean "nothing is happening"? Do the REAR wheels spin? Do they push the truck? Do the front wheels NOT roll as the truck moves? If the rears are in mud/ice & you spin out, does NEITHER of the fronts spin? Has your front axle ever been worked on? How about the t-case? Does it make any noise in 4WD? Have you ever driven it on dry pavement in 4WD? When was the last time it worked?
Thanks Mike and Steve,
I recently inherited this truck and don't know a lot about it, sorry. The truck works fine in 2H, rear wheels push the truck and front wheels free-spin like they should. When I engage the hubs, then drop the 4x4 shiftter to 4H, there is no physical indication (ca-chunk) that the transfer case is engaged. Should it feel like there is something happening there? I tried spinning out on the ice yesterday, only the rear were slipping. The front end was worked on not too long ago, replaced ball joints. Not sure if the t-case or axels were ever done but the U-joint on the driveshaft was replaced, could that have something to do with it?
yeah check the linkages it sounds like the same problem my friend had with his ford if that dont work check the 4x4 sensor that might be the problem too. Good luck let us now if it works
