Look closely at the plugin cable and heavy connection to the alternator for bent loose or overheated lugs.
The flicker is the system voltage changing level.
The flashing lamp is telling you the alternator is losing control of the output.
Inspect the heavey cable from the alternator to the battery. There is a fuse link in the cable.
On the fire wall there is a fuse and associated hardware.
