no start??
ok. my neighbor has an 86 F150 2wd with a 5.0 EFI. the battery is not the issue, as we used the very good one out of my explorer to test, solenoid is replaced as of yesterday to no avail, ground is good, cables appear to be in good shape, and the starter is only a year old. what is happenin is that the solenoid gives a good solid click, and the started acts like the cable is disconnected. the truck ran and drove fine as of a couple days ago. i took the cable off, cleaned it, and put it back on, still no go. is this one of the rigs with a secondary solenoid on the starter that could be bad? or are there other things we should be lookin at? maybe the starter, at only a year old is shot again?

Try using one lead of jumper cables, and going from the positive battery post to the starter side of the solenoid. If the starter doesn't turn over, you've ruled all but the cable to the starter and the starter itself.

ok. took the starter motor off and put it directly on a battery to bench test it. no go. took it apart, and it totally fried. SO, hes goin to get a new starter tomorrow.
