Truck Stalls
. It does have a 4 position TS chip. I recently took it into a shop so they can run some codes and they came out with a "PCM Failure" code. Is it possible for the truck to run and still have <acronym title="Powertrain Control Module">PCM</acronym> failure or does the <acronym title="Powertrain Control Module">PCM</acronym> either work or completely fail. Regardless, I feel that this is an issue with the chip or its installation and will be removing it in the meantime. Just was wondering what your guys' opinions/comments were.
Next, if you have a chip, a P0603 PCM code is a given. A P0605 (bad PCM) code is not unheard of. If the truck starts and drives down the road, you don't have a PCM failure.
A loose chip can cause the truck to cut out. A CPS can cause the same issue, but usually leaves a code. A shorted wire near the shifter can cause a problem if shifting is what's making it stall. Also, the main engine wiring harness (big harness running up and over driver side valve cover under air intake) can chafe and cause a short to ground that can also cause this same issue. Check the wires below and above the square box at the valve cover for any signs of chaffed wires. Also inspect the wiring harness that runs over the top of the driver side front shock.
