Finally got my pyro hooked up: temps.

I just got my pyro hooked up and here are a few avg. temperatures, cruising at 65 (2200rpm) 600 degrees, pedal on the floor in 5th gear from 60-75 I almost hit 1000 degrees. At Idle its about 275 degrees. I've got to go to Dallas to get a project truck next week so I'll see what the temps are towing, I'll be towing about 9,000lbs.

When towing mine pulls great but I have to keep an eye on the pyrometer. If I am not careful it will run hot. Nowadays I use the Pyro instead of the speedo to tell how fast I can go.
Just keep it in check while towing.

I wish I had numbers to compare with.

But An intercooler stops EGT spikes more than just keeps EGT's low.

If you dont have an intercooler, you'll notice when you get on the throttle, they shoot right up. The IC helps keep that from happening, and makes it go a bit more gradual.

Now, thats not its only purpose, because it does cool intake air either way, but from what I've read, it's more noticeable to stop EGT spikes.

Anyone have some before and after numbers for their IC install for just road cruising?

Yup but it wouldn't be as bad with smaller injectors than what I have.
The thing is, I can now drive my truck how I want to. I just have to be my own double check. It will pull 15,000 lbs straight up a hill if I want it to at 80 mph but I have to watch my temps so I choose to back off a bit.

The IC is my next mod, I'll install it in a couple weeks, I'll post what I did.
I pull a 20" gooser with my buggy on it and I was hoping to be able to haul effectively up these hills in Colorado. Maybe I mean a bit more agresively

Nice looking truck. Really like the color!
The intercooler will help you some. Some people have reported about 50 - 100 degrees less with it depending on load and grade.

I'm not gonna lie, your color looks amazing

50 - 100 Doesn't seem like much to me. The EGT spike I think would be worth it for me given the high elevation I'm at

Yea. Think of how much air is passing though the IC at a given time, not much time for it to cool much more than that.

Just keeps it from jumping quickly, which is worth it all day long.

My EGTs cooled down about 150* cruising at 75mph, but my EGTs still peg my 1600* guage when i get on it real good...
