I've got a 200 inline 6 that came out of my 62 falcon,, I was told it had been removed from an old truck.. It was smoking pretty bad,, so I decided to build it.. I disassembled, the head was junk, exhaust manifold broke,, and the engine had to be bored .040 just to clear.. So I've got a .040 inline,, I already purchased flat top pistons, my question is,, what head, and cam combo would make this little engine scream? I'm already planning on the aftermarket intake to upgrade to 4 barrel. Thanks for any input.
I had a 1964 econoline truck with a 144 in it 25 years ago. I drove it from Denver, to Ft. Bragg and threw a rod. I had it repaired, and 6 months later drove it back as far as KC, and it was knocking so bad I stopped and trailered it the rest of the way. When I got back to Denver, I pulled it and put a 200 in it. That is a good engine just not very powerful. If I was going to do anything today, I would start with a 300. No better place to start if you want a good 6 holer.
I have a friend with a 200 CI motor in his '66 F100.
Actually he has a 352, but he uses the 200 to turn the compressor on his air conditioner!
Seriously, if you want to build a 6 cylinder, start with a 300 like the bum says. I know that is not what you want to hear, but with a 200, you are going to end up with a truck that sounds like a rice burner and won't be able to get out of it's own way.
