30 K $ervice

I called ford and was told a 30 K service cost $550 what does it cover filters and repacking the front wheel bearings!!!!!!!!!!!

Independent shop that i know does fine work, and is much cheeper.

I have gone to ford just because of warranty work (thank god it has only been cosmetic stuff) but i will not go and pay for that!!!!!!!!!!!

just had to vent

excellent forum

You should look at your service records for items already done and then look at what the Manual says should be done at this point. Decide what you want them to do before you go in. Then, when they try to sell you additional work, you should really make them convince you that it's needed or just say no. You can always go back later or do more at 40,000 miles or 50,000 etc.

Don't feel bad about using another mechanic if you have confidence in them. Should not void your warranty and can save a lot of money. On the wheel bearing repack, 30K seems early especially if you haven't been in high water or seen really severe duty. I don't think the manual even recommends that.

Good luck, Roy
