well, i'm looking at having to replace my flexplate/flywheel. there must be a bad spot on mine causing the starter issue i've been having. are the ones from autozone/advance/etc as good as the ford part? or is there a better aftermarket part?
Which motor do you have, 4.2, 4.6 or 5.4 liter?
There are two different designs. One built in Canada and one in Mich.
One difference you need to know for sure is the number of bolts holding the flex plate on.
The engine ID is all you should need to know.
In the VIN number, the 8th digit position will tell you what motor you have.
One of the following should be there.
2 = 4.2 L. V6
W = 4.6 L ROMEO V8 engine. (US).
6 = 4.6 L Windsor V8 engine. ( Canada).
L = 5.4 L V8.
The 4.6 motors can have the different bolt patterns.
Order accordingly.
Good luck.
