M Rod stretch

I don't think the rod can really be stretched but I think it's center to center can be increased. If I press a solid steel plug into the small end (let's say .977" for a .002" press fit), then bore a new hole with +.040" distance. I think there is sufficient material in the rod and the new C to C distance would be 6.620"

The new bore can be any size, so it makes sense to me to go with a .912" size for a Cleveland piston. More piston choices are available and I think the quench height would be compatable with closed chamber heads.

10.3 block
-6.62 rod
-2.00 1/2 stroke
-1.67 KB 351C piston height
-----------------------------------
.010" deck clearance

If I go to this much trouble, I think bronze bushings are worth the effort. I have access to bronze material, both tubelets and solids sae 660. Is this the correct material? I can also get the oil impregnated bronze, I don't know which is correct for automotive use. How thin can I go with the bushings? Anyone know?
