Do electric tachs get lazy?

Lately my tach hasn't gone past 2200rpm and as I
figure it I'm goin 54mph at 2000rpm with 3.54's and 33" tires.
My gut says I'm goin way over 50 at 2000rpm,my speedo doesn't work but I know when I'm hauling I s my tach worn out?
Its made in china and I bought it from walmart....ughhh

Lightbulb Do electric tachs get lazy?

Sounds like your tachs OK.
That "high" (numerically-lower) gear ratio and tall tires would surely make your engine turn low RPM's.
Your Math is a little off, so heres some figures to help you.

Note: These figures are specifically for your truck with the infomation you gave, 33" tires, 3.54 rear gears. You'll notice these are the most common speed limits.

30-MPH = 1,081-RPM

45-MPH = 1,621-RPM

55-MPH = 1,982-RPM

60-MPH = 2,162-RPM

70-MPH = 2,523-RPM

Forgot something,
Does your tach go over 2,200-RPM when you rev-up the motor? Might want to try that just to make sure your tach is good.

it goes past 2200, but usually I'd be at 1800 rpm or so
goin into town to keep up with traffic and lately it has
only been around 1200-1500rpm tops. kinda weird.
is the magneto thing getting weak?
