SCOTUS has ruled on McDonald v. City of Chicago and McDonald won.
This is the first SCOTUS ruling to say that the Second Amendment applies to all the states and strikes down all handgun bans.
Here's the actual ruling/majority opinion written by Alito, http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/09pdf/08-1521.pdf The first 6 pages are a syllabus, the ruling starts on page 7.
"we hold that the Second Amendment right is fully applicable to the States"

Great news indeed. If I heard correctly, there is also a warning against cities and states getting around the ruling by enacting overly burdensome regulations. I hope so - otherwise Chicago could just make it next to impossible to jump through all the hoops.
