Dealer told me today that he could order the 2003 model on the 1st of January and could take delivery by the first of March.
He did not have any order info as of yet. If anyone has any info on these vehicles, I'd sure like to see it. Thanks
LAST EDITED ON 31-Oct-01 AT 07:10 PM (EST)[p]The 2003 Expedition will be a complete redesign. I haven't heard to much about them yet. The rear seat will fold down flat into the floor and a 4.5L diesel engine option will be available. New front grille, bumper, & headlights. Overall vehicle height will be lowered 2", yet ground clearance will be increased. If anyone learns of more info, please post it!
Wow I never heard that is was going to come with a diesel. Thats good news. When I get mine in a billion years I might get diesel. But, I do not think its truckish enough for a diesel.
LAST EDITED ON 06-Nov-01 AT 08:38 AM (EST)[p]International will manufacture the engine. I've heard it's on hold at the moment because of severe vibration issues.
Spoke with my cousin yesterday (Engineer @ Ford). He said the 4.5L diesel is now dropped until the 2004 model because of vibration issues. The 2003 model will still come out this spring, but you'll have to wait till next fall to get the 3 valve 5.4L gas engine. The 4.6L & 5.4L (2 valve) will be the start up engines for the 2003 models.
Do any of you have pictures of the 2003 expedition? Could you please email them to me at Draco124(No Email Addresses In Posts!) . It would be very appreciated.
Found out today that Job 1 date for 2003 Expedition will be March 1 2002. We should start seeing them on dealers lots around the 15th of April. I still haven't seen any order info or specs on '03 Expy's yet, but dealers should have this soon as Ford is not taking any more orders for 2002 Expy's at this time.
My user name is 2002Expy, but at that time I thought the new one was going to be a 2002 model. (It is, but called 2003). I am afraid I am going to be one of the suckers that pays too much when it comes out. I turn in my lease on my wife's Toyota 4-Runner(Cheap A%@ Interior) on April 15th. And the above posting sounds too tempting for me to resist.
Has any on you heard if they are going to match GM and option a DVD based entertainment system? I know they have the VHS. I'll be willing to pay $$$$ for this after the last long road trip in my explorer.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Nov-01 AT 08:25 PM (EST)]The December issue of Motor Trend on pp. 28 has a short article on the 2003 Lincoln Navigator they "Spied". Talks about some of the changes that will be on both the Ford and Lincoln.
I understand that the new 3 valve/head motor will not be ready for the 2003 Expedition until the Fall of 2002. The first ones will have the same 4.6 and 5.4 that is offered today.
I read somewhere about the new desiel and how it was going to be an option for the Fall 2002 Spring 2003.
The new 2003 Expeditiion will be shown in the Detroit Auto Show tommorrow morning, January 8th, 2002. There will be an update on the release date (March- June). Go to Carpoint and then follow the links to the Auto Show. There will be a video of the unveiling and pictures to see the big changes.
