Wire near the tailgate??

The other day I went under the rear of the truck and noticed a green wire with a scotch clip attached and two wires that went no where. I tried to contact the previous owner of the truck to see if he had hooked anything up back there but I could not get a hold of him right away. Here is a picture of the wire. Picasa Web Albums - Tom - Truck

I also rolled under my pops 2010 f250 just to see if there was a wire there and there was but it was taped back and heat shruck on the tip. Im guess that the wire is a tap for power??

Just curious to see what this wire could be.

And a side note to all of this, I also tried to hook up my buddies trailer to the truck and noticed that the lights would kick out then come back on and do that until I unplugged them. The plug going into the truck was also screamin hot. That sounds like a bad ground to me on the trailer but I figured I would add this since Im not sure if the wire under the truck has anything to do with the trailer lights.

I never thought about that. The first owner might have had a cap on it but its only a guess. But that wire is a tap for power right??

The green wire may be a tap for power,at this point I don't recognise the plug in front of it
if it quit raining I'll go look under my truck

I was under my new truck bed last week. The lone heat shrunk wire is indeed the center high stop light for a cap. Beside the tape holding it back should be a label. The label was beatup but still readable. I just got my truck back from the body shop and realized my backup lights are coming on when I step on the brakes. I have to move the pins around in the OEM harness.
