Just bought a DRW tailgate light, the one that mounts below the tailgate but above the bumper for my SRW truck. I'm wondering what the normal operation of this light is, meaning when it normally works and when it does not.
Is it just another marker light for when the lights are turned on or does it light up along with the brake lights when you press the pedal. Thanks for the help, trying to figure out where to splice in to.
It's a marker light only. Does not change with the brakes.
Regarding wiring, you are looking to splice into a solid brown wire that goes to either tail marker light. Or, you can wire it into the license plate circuit. Or, you can wire it into the trailer connector. I've seen guys say they did each of those. All will work.
As stated it is supposed to be a marker light, but you can wire it in to your brake lights if you wish.
When I installed mine I tried it as a "fourth" brake light (my Leer canopy also has a brake light bar) for a couple of days but it didn't feel/look right to me.
Curious,,,
Did you get a standard bulb or LED unit?

I believe it is just the OEM standard bulb. Got it off LMC truck.
