Usually you will have to be pretty crafty for it to be covered under an FSA if you do not fall within the build dates listed. The FSA 07M08 lists only 2005 model year vehicles. I am curious what your build date is however (Can be found on your drivers door tag). If you have an early build date, I would be wanting to know the part # of your injector. It would be interesting to see if they are the same part #'s.

The truck is at the garage and I will have to stop by and check the date. I believe that it was made in October of 2005 so I was wondering about that too. I'll check it out and post the info soon.

I would go with a used engine and installation by an independent shop.

I would let the dealer put a rod in it. It only has 77k and you know it will be done right with Ford parts. By all means shop around and talk to the tech who will do the work. Or you could get it towed to me in NC and I will do it. I have seen way too many hack jobs from independent shops to let them work on my lawn mowers much less a daily driver.

I was one of those 2006. (built 09/05) My symptons were hard starts. They replaced injector on passenger side (second from the front) and also spark plug.

I talked to the guy at my garage today and he said the engine is completely seized up and he is telling me I need a new engine too. He is going to put in a Ford engine which has a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty just like the dealership but a little bit cheaper. He also suggested replacing the injectors too. Hey Longbed, Where you at in Raleighwood? Do you have your own shop or do the work on the side? When he says it is completely seized up does that mean I am **** out of luck? I don't know anything about engines and I trust my guy, but that is alot of money to spend.

Did it run out of oil? A leaking injector won't cause it to seize it will only cause it to hydrolock. If the rod is bent enough to keep it from turning you will still be able to turn it backwards. Do you know which cylinder has the bad injector? You can pull that plug and crank the engine over to get the gas out. I have a garage at my house that I do some side work in. I'm right off I-40 at Hwy 42, exit 312.

The engine didn't run out of oil. I had just had it changed at the quick lube place at Crossroads Ford a few days before hand. He told me which injector number but I don't remember. I do know it was on the passanger side of the engine. He already pulled the injector and plug, sucked out the gas and I guess he couldn't get it to roll backwards because he said it was totally seized up. Before it died it starting running rough two days before but it cleared up in a few minutes.

I still dont see how the engine could be seized enough to require replacement. Has he pulled the oil pan to see what is causing it not to turn? Crossroads huh? I worked at Capital for 10 years and now I work at Classic in Smithfield. If you don't mind me asking, what is he charging for labor?

The truck is at an independent, not at Crossroads.

I was referring to you saying you took it to Crossroads a few days earlier. I know the truck is at an independent now. What is the status of it?

F-150 engine damaged by hydrolock & injectors

I tried dealing with Ford reference the build date, I have a F-150 5.4 with bent rods and needing a new engine due to faulty injectors and hydrolocked engine. The dealership confirmed the problem but Ford is not willing to look at a truck with a build date of 12/05 as being considered under the program. Only option given by Ford was 900 off of the 6300.00 repair. There are quite a few 2006 trucks that seem to be experiencing this same problem.

I would be screaming buyback, lemon law, getting a lawyer, etc. These things will usually get Ford moving.

Keep in mind, if they were to just hand out cash for everyone who had asked, they would be here any longer.

But I believe you have a legitimate case. I would almost want to find a salvage yard and compare part numbers, batch numbers on the injectors, and designs with ones from an 05. $6300 is alot to pay because Ford decided to cut costs by putting in a $9 injector instead of the $10 injector.
