Another quick question about the 2001 F150 SuperCab... Was the longbed a special order then or is it just a rare truck that has it? I have yet to find one and I almost ready to settle for a shortbed.
2001 Long bed was available in every trim 157" wheelbase... it's just harder to come by even though is was the standard offering and not the option. It's what I call "selective availability," and translates to more money for the dealers. Believe it or not, the 8' bed was cheaper than the 6.5' option on the regular and supercabs.
The gov't has a few of the long bed in a supercab from what I've seen around work, and they only buy the stripped down basic version (all standard equipment/hardly any options). It's so funny watching people try to park that extra 18 inches. Almost as funny as watching people park the crew cab long bed SD's . As a former motor pool attendant I wince when people try to turn those things around tight bends. I've seen several come back with dents in both sides of the bed.
Hold out, you'll find a long bed s/c. If you line the dealers pocket with a 5 spot, they'll locate one for you... that's how I got my 7700.
