hey guys i need to possibly replace my 4x4 vacuum selenoid (the one just inside the passenger fender), my ford tech recommended that i stick the one from my working truck in my nolonger4x4truck there to diagnose the problem. (diagnosing the lack of 4x4 one part at a time)
anyhow he sent me a diagram of how to remove it but didnt mention anything about how. and by that i mean is there anything i should know about swapping them? is it as simple as pulling the "broken" one out and poping in the new one? or what happens with the vacuum? does the system purge itself?
any tips would be great! thanks guys
If you are saying your 4x4 wont engage, I would look at the hubs. I went through 2 sets during warranty and ended up with manuals after. They seem to fail to engage after a while. So far so good on my 2004 but my 2000 had me spinning manuals on snowy mornings. If you have a donor truck thats great, but a $70 pair of manual hubs might do the trick. Can you still turn the factory hubs to lock manually? Try it first. If not, then they might be shot.
