hey guys. i want to put the firestone air bag helper springs on my 99 f-150 and and on the website it has the bags for my truck but they are only 3k pounds .what i want to know is will the ones for the 250 and 350s fit on my truck ??
any advice will help!!
what exactly are you planning to do with your truck? if you need the rear to hold more than 3000lbs, you NEED a bigger truck. thats it plain and simple. my dad has had to replace both rear bearings on his 02 with the towing package from having 3300 lb loads of gravel on it. also, the breaks really start to take a beating... even being easy with it... trust me, once you get into that wheight range sitting on the truck, the 150 wont remain as reliable as it should. remember its a half ton. now if you need them for a trailer, you shouldnt need them much. there shouldnt be any more than 300-500 lbs on the hitch if the trailer is loaded properly, and then you should only need the bags to level the truck, which wouldnt require 3000lb or bigger bags..... so if you truly do need the bags for a 250 or 350 maybe its time to get one of those trucks.... just a thought, it may be cheaper in the end
could not agree with you more!! i am just using them to level but the thing is i dont like the look of the smaller ones i know it sounds crazy but i would rather buy the bigger ones if they will fit if not i will get the smaller ones but it would be nice to have the bigger ones!!
haha ok. i just had to make sure you werent one of those people that just bought a half ton and planned to use it as a dump truck. some people think that all they have to do to there truck is throw in some kind of overload spring and they can do anything they want... but any way, the smaller ones will definately work for your needs, but i can understand you wanting the look of the beefier ones. sorry i cant tell you if they will fit or not the only ones i have seen were on 350's. but i would imagine that if you want them badly enough you could sure make them fit. have you looked for ones for a light duty f250? i dont know if you would get what you want that way or not, but i dont think it would hurt to try.
the bags for the 250 are the same as the 350 so i found but i am almost positive it will fit ..and no i am not stupid enough to hurt my truck like that she is my baby!!!
I have the Firestone kit for the 150 on my 01 supercrew and love them! Usually have 20-25 80lb bags of salt in the bed during the winter and handles it like a dream. they work great and look fine.
