Wow, I love being able to see when things start happening with the engine. It is wonderful, to actually have a reading on certain things as they are changing, not as they go boom. I will be adding more gauges as I have time and money. I strongly suggest anyone who doesn't have gauges, install them as soon as you can.
what did you go with? ive been wanting to get a dp but everyone says i need gauges. just cant really spend a lot of money on the ole truck right now
The gauge you need most is pyro. This is to protect your motor from meltdown. When you get your DP, you will see how quick it is to send your temps above 1200 ( not a bad thing, if you let off of it shortly ). The trans temp, Very Nice to have especially when towing, and Boost, a very nice to have for troubleshooting.
I already had engine oil temp and transmission temp gauges installed and working. Added the Pyro and Boost this past week. I can tell exactly when the old Turbo kicks in. The pyro shows me at about 395 to 400 at idle, 650 to 700 at 70 mph, and over 1200 when I bury my foot. Temp comes back down very quckly when you take your foot off the floor. I can now really start to increase fuel mileage, by staying out of the turbo. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to see it as it is happening. I will be adding water temp, oil pressure, and altimeter next. Just might be a while.
There are alot of gauges to be added, thats for sure..I stopped at the three, but do want to go after one of those digital meters, where I can also go in and do the contribution test, but another day.
