6.7 Regen

I have a 6.4 that goes into regen every 125 miles. I was just wandering how often will the 6.7 go into regen. The dealer says around 600 miles. Anybody with real numbers?

I have 1000 miles and have had two regens that I noticed. Both on the freeway. The truck pops a message on the dash that says something like "Cleaning exhaust filter" for a few seconds and then goes away. There's no other messages that says what is going on. For fun, I reset my mpg and noted I was getting about 11 mpg's during the event. Lasted about 10 mins. The engine had a slightly different sound. Mileage returned to 18 or so after it was done and everything was kosher.

I've gotten the message a couple of times driving around town but I don't think any actual cleaning goes on until you get above 40 mph or so and stay there a while.

In city driving i see a regen about every 200-250miles. Sometimes more often if i start givin it some gas to get around.

It does clean at low speeds, you can watch your fuel econo bar thingy drop massively even at like 30mph. Its like half of normal when its going on

I get 2 regens per tank since lifting it. I only get 300 miles per tank 9hand calculated and adjusted for my 37's) and that is mixed city and highway.

before lifting it, i would only get one regen and 425 miles per tank.
not sure why the regens kicked in but they kill my mpg's. i can't wait till tuner and a delete.

Thanks' for the info everyone. I have a 6.7 Lariat 4x4 crew cab with 355 locking rears on order and due in next week.I'm just trying to fiqure out if this is the way to go, I tow a 12k fifth wheel and get 8 mpg and empty around 16 mpg with my 6.4 Lariat 4x4 with 373 rears. My truck is making oil and goes into regen about every 125 miles and the regen last about 19 miles before it ends cycle. I have 34k on truck now and I swear that the more miles I put on it the mpg goes down more. I guess I will have to give the 6.7 a try.

I have seen the regen message pop up twice in the 1000 miles I have on the truck so far. The green fuel economy bar drops considerably when it's in regen.

I wonder if the 6.7 will make oil like the 6.4 with the regen. I guess we will have to wait and see.

What does that mean, "make oil?"

With my 6.4 the regen comes on around every 125 miles and the cycle last around 18 miles. The term I used making oil is the regen comes on so often that exces fuel ends up in the crank case. I have 2k on this oil change and the oil level on dip stick is well above the full mark thus the term making oil. I was just curious if the 6.7 with the regen would be the same.

Thanks. I've heard of that but didn't put two and two together. I'll start watching my dipstick more closely.

Diesel fuel in the crankcase oil is bad news. I lost a diesel boat engine because of a slight rise in oil level due to a leaking fuel injector line putting fuel in the oil. It lasted about 100 operating hours and two oil changes an then the rear gears wore out due to improper lubrication. Be careful and stop the fuel getting into the oil.

you cannot 'stop' it..(by natural means) the emissions system will cause it as a side effect... my first oil analysis showed 2.5% fuel in oil over 5000 miles.. mostly long drives, not highway tho..

I just came back from 2200 mile trip hauling my show car, and we regened about every 200 miles in my 08 6.4l

will be interesting to see that oil analysis.(done by blackstone labs)

Well geeze fellas... What can we do about this? Is it ok to have 2.5% fuel in the oil? Will 5000 mile oil changes on full synthetic provide enough protection?

blackstone says the typical is <2% over 4800 miles.. so I am just a little over..

how to stop it? stop the regen.. DPF delete, tuner add..(Spartan anyone).. course you void your warranty and won't pass emissions tests with that setup..
