Which instrument panel lamp do I need?
The lamp went out behind the fuel gauge in my '98 Ranger. I went to Advance Auto today to get the lamp before I tore the dash apart to replace it. Their computer couldn't decide if it was Sylvania 161LL, 14V/2.7W or Sylvania 194LL, 14V/4.6W. NAPA online couldn't give me a definitive answer either. So I got both of these bulbs to be sure I had the right one. So I'm curious if anyone knows which one will be the correct one for my truck. The 4.6 or 2.7 volt bulb. I'm sure when I get to the old lamp, it'll have the specs printed on the bulb, but I may go back and get enough enough lamps to replace them all before the dash is in pieces. I recently replaced the instrument panel lamps on my 99 Ranger. Seems like they were #167 or 169. Took 6 of them.
In the faq there is a writeup on replacing the bulbs that helps as far as knowing what has to come off the get to the bulbs.
