I just purchased an 2002 F150 Lariat and am having problems with the door lock stem making it up in order to unlock the door. Is there a fix for this? I ask because I was looking at the same truck, but in a 2001 and it had the exact same problem. I assumed that it's somewhat common.
Basically, when I try to unlock the door via the power door lock, it sometimes doesn't make it into the unlocked position. It will lock every time, but doesn't always unlock. Seems like it's fighting to get up.
Again, I noticed the same thing on a 2001 F150 that I almost bought and assumed it was something that was at least, fairly common.
Its the door lock actuator, mine had the same problem. i bought the actuator from ford and replaced it in 10 minutes then it worked fine with no more problems. On a side note if that ones doing it the left one isint far behind.

Thanks for the info... How much did the actuator cost you?
I actually dont remember since i was quite mad it was doing it. But I wouldnt go aftermarket with that part since it is quite a pain to get out. I will look and see if i can find my recipt.
I found the recipt I paid 25.38 for mine that was cost for the dealer. Depending on if your local ford parts guy is an *** or not will determine what you pay.
Yea I looked on there most of that is a rip off, I can usually get them for way less at my local dealer. You can get it cheaper if you talk to someone and haggle them down. Everyone knows that every penny you save goes a long ways but thats just my opinion.
I doubt if you will find one for 25.00. After markets run about 45.00. That's advance
auto. I put one on my truck and it works great. As fast as oem wearout I wouldn't
hesitate to go aftermarket. It's pretty easy on most trucks to replace. There are also
some post in hear that show you how to repair yours. It's up to you but it's a waste
of time in my opinion. It works, don't get me wrong but for 50 bucks are so , get a new
one. My time is worth something. Not much but something.
