Coming from a novice who's been doing some research lately...
Hard to say, but I'd say it's a '40 or '41.
Evidence...
Grill bars look like they could be vertical, making it '40 or newer.
Body line below window sill appears depressed in the middle, again making it '40 or newer. '39 and older seem to all have 3 raised ribs running parallel.
Pod headlights prevent it from being '42 or newer.
That leaves '40 and '41.
More than that I think you'd need the serial number.
I thought the military versions got a fold out windshield. The '39 pic had horizontal grillbars in a shell, mine had vertical bars (what was left of them). But this one did have the pod style headlights, my buddy that was there that day just confirmed it. So now it might be a '40? The VIN Decoder up top says the numbers I have for it are not a valid VIN.
Yeah, I've not found any cosmetic differences between the 40 and 41 big trucks in my searches. Similar situation to the 42-47 trucks, except for the Ford emblem/stamping.
Can someone in the know say if that 361006 is a FoMoCo p/n? (Doesn't seem like it is, but can't find the thread I was looking for that mentioned some of the p/ns for chassis components.)
That 40 1.5 ton looks to be the one from what I can see. I've got the Dennis Carpenter site saved to get my seal. Anywhere in particular you guys recommend getting the glass? Also, is there a piece that goes between the pieces of glass in the center? What's left of the seal looks to have holes for mounting in something.
Yes, there is a piece that goes in the middle. Here are a couple pics of mine...
These are the inside trim.
The flat-ish piece that goes across the top in the middle is separate from the vertical piece, but the vertical piece does have a small tab that extends up under the top piece. Hope that makes sense.
Here is the outside trim on the truck.
This is with the outside trim removed.
This is what the outside trim sorta looks like. (This is the backside.)
That's the piece. Dennis Carpenter's lists it as a Windshield Division Bar (pg 105 in the catalog). Anybody have the measurements for the glass? I'll be able to order the seal and bar this week, but I'm still looking for a good glass shop.
