Volare suspension height

I am just setting up a 302/AOD install in my '54 F100.

I am trying to set up the intake level, but my suspension is about 8" from the K member to the ground. From the manual it should be at least 9 or 10"
How much do you have to wind up the adjusting bolts for them to start raising the suspension - or does it? All that seem to be happening is that its compressing the torsion bars - which I suppose is good.

How much exposed spindle do you have showing when you are at the optimum height. When I know I am have the torsion bars/suspension right - I can level the engine intake, and weld the front engine brackets in.

According to the chrysler spec, the clearance is supposed to be 11 inches!! Mine is at 8 I think. This is to the bushing to the right of center

Sam,

I do have 10" clearance - I was measuring to the wrong area. I thought it was to the bottom of the K Rail control arm (which is 8").

On closer inspection of the Manual it should be dimension "A" in one of the photos which is to the bottom of the Torsion arm bushing.

If any one out there is interested I will post an extract from the manual.

Did you remove your original X member? I have about 1" of clearance from the bottom of the transmission pan to the member and wonder if that will be enough under road conditions.

If there is anyone out there with a 302/AOD setup I would like to hear from them

Chris, I would like to see a copy of the page from your manual showing the reference point to get this measurement from. Thanks,

Charlie
