Question Regarding Tires

Hello,
I have a question that hopefully someone can help me with...

I am trying to change my 2003 F350's tires so they look a little more aggressive and fit my truck better (the ones I have now look like they should be on an F150).
The problem is I don't know how big I can go without needing a lift kit (I don't want to lift it any!) and so I have no rubbing. I also do not want my tires to stick too far out to the side, so the width can't be too wide. Currently I have 16" rims and am not looking to change them (I'm a college student so funds are a little tight to be changing too much unless I can get a really good deal! lol)
Please let me know what would be a good fit! And any additional info would be greatly appreciated!!!

The majority of people here like bf goodrich all terrain. Nitto terra grapplers are nice and so are cooper s/t. Goodyear has a newer tire called duratrac all are nice aggressive looking tires. I believe you have 265 on now and you can go with 275 or 285. When you get to the 285 size its hard to find them in load range E which you also probally have. If you never tow or carry a load you could go with load range D however that could cause some comments here. Good luck choosing a tire. Her check this out:Consumer Survey Results By Category

You can go with 295/75 R16's. I had BF Goodrich, they were awesome, but expensive so I went with the Nitto Grapplers the second time, still good tires and much less $$ for the college budget. I will go with the BF's next time but college is done and I must work now, so I will spend the $$

I have no lift, and stock rims, this size tires are about the biggest you can get with zero rubbing.

Thanks for the suggestions!!

I had been recommended to get the BFGoodrich AT by my Ford dealership, but man are you right! those things get expensive! lol

Since those are pretty regularly recommended does anyone know the tread life of them compared to the other suggestions?

And yeah I will be towing a horse trailer here shortly, so I'll probably have to have E rated!

I would go with an LT285/75R16 as they are widely available, usually in stock and less expensive than the 295s or 305s. They look and ride much better than 265s or 235s. If you don't do a lot of heavy hauling you can easily get by with D rated tires as a lot of the 285s are. The D rated 285s I have are actually rated for over 200 lbs more per tire than the 235/85 Es that were on my truck.

The BFG A/T are good tries but yes they are expensive. With proper rotation and no burnouts you should easily be able to get 40k out of them and still have tread left. If you want a tire with a decent tread pattern that is less money look into the Yokohama Geolander A/T-S. It would be a good idea to call several tire dealers to get pricing, sometimes the price difference can be quite a bit.

For what it's worth, I had BF Goodrich ATs on my last truck (it was a half ton-285/75/16). 50k miles and still still had plenty of tread left and rode very well the whole time. I didn't even rotate them like I should have. I highly recommend them

For this truck, however, I needed 18" E rated tires. I got a really good deal on some Goodyear Duratracs (a buddy hooked me up-$300 out the door for 4 tires and mounting- I couldn't turn it down). I think they look pretty good (you can see them in my gallery-I think) and they ride pretty well too. They bounce a little at 45mph but are smooth otherwise. They're also pretty quiet.

If you don't need E rated tires, I like the BFs, but I've got nothing against the Duratrac. I only have about 6k on them, so I don't know how well they will wear.

That's a great price for 20" tires! How many miles do they have on them? How are they wearing? If my Duratracs don't wear well, I may try these next. I like the looks.

I just put them on in Feb. They only have 1,000 miles on them. This is the second set I've owned and have been very pleased with their performance. In my opinion, they are one of the best looking, performing tires for the money. They wear Great.

How many miles did you get out of the first set?
