Hey, this site is cool....anyway, I have a question. I just replaced all my disc brakes (pads, turned rotors) and installed new master cylinder. I blead the whole system and this thing is still on the "mushy" side. I made sure that there was not air left in system. The brakes feel ok, smooth and it does stop....but just not as good as it should be. The reason for the overhaul was pedal going to ground and ya..pads were worn. Am I missing something? No leaks from the new master either.
Thanks for any imput,
Soft pedal is still air in the system. Air compresses, fluid does not.
You need some mileage to break in the pads as well.
The 'bleeding' process should use a small hose into a clear cup so you can see the air in the fluid and when it comes out clear and no air will be drawn back into the caliper when the pedal is pumped or let up on with the valve open.
Keep the master cylinder filled so it does not have access to air, during the bleed process..
Good luck.
Thanks Bluegrass. Ya, we bought that pnumatic bleeder pump tool and it did not work, so we bleed it that way you described and also bench bleed the master. Maybe there is just some air still left in the system.
Thanks again,
Rusty
