Dist problem

I already posted this Question on the forum for my truck, But I wanted to post it here too because I am buying the distributor at Oreillys from a 75 ford truck w/ a 390 (since they had electronic ignition and the 66s didn't)
I have a 66 F-100 with a 390 in it.
Im converting to electronic ignition.
I went to buy a new dist today and he asked if I wanted single or dual vacuum advance.
Whats the difference, and does it all hook up the same?

Please let me know.

I still dont really get it.
My 390 is basically stock, but im giong to build it
Basically I want to know if its hard to do a 2 step vacume or is it the same as reg 1?

Yes, get the single vacuum advance. The purpose of the dual setup was for a rudimentary emissions control. The engine will run much better with a single vacuum cannister.

Got it I ordered the dual on accident yesterday, cuz they had neither in stock. I went in today and said I wanted the single, and they ordered them both, just in case.
Also, can you use a BIG cap on it? Like on 302s and stuff you can use an adapter to use a bigger cap on it.
Just curious, cuz the cap for this one is small and has the old style wire connectors.
not the new ones that look like the tip of a spark plug

The housing should be the same. You just need the adapter ring that goes between the housing and cap. If you have the clearance.

I got the clearance.
only prob is Oreillys only sells the small cap
I got the adapter. is all the V8 caps the same
My friend thought I might could use a 302 or 351 big cap

I think the caps are the same between engines. Don't forget the rotor.
