thinking about buy the inline 6 or 302...got some Questions
Im looking into buying either the inline 6 or the 302. Like 93-96 years. How do strait pipes sound on the inline 6. Like if i were to run if off the headers and out behind the passenger door? The inline 6s look like they run forever...thanks guys (newbie here)

the inline sixes DO run forever.
Its not gunna sound exactly like an eight, but its a bigblock, and just as big as the 302 (listen 2 ci isn't too big when you divide by six.)
If you want a great off road, or utility/hauling truck, 300. You want something for the street (remember its a truck...) 302. Both great engines, 300 is a better truck engine IMO.

IMHO, i'd rather have the big six, instead of a bent 8.
Although i belive in a racing application i'd take a 302 over the six, i wouldn't in a big heavy truck.
The sixes do last long, and with a few simple mods, they do make good torque and hp, but you can't wind them forever like a v8.
If your truck is for work/play off road i'd get the 300, if yours is an every day street truck, that you plan to mod out the nose..get the 302, more power, cheaply there.

I have a 2 1/4 strait pipe on my 300. It sounds alright. It isn't loud in the Cab, but the neighbor thinks it sounds great (I can't hear what it sounds like driving as NOBODY drives it but me I am hard of hearing). I have a few simple mods on mine and I think it is a better EVERYDAY DRIVER than my dads 87 was with the 302.

If you want to be able to pull your own codes, avoid OBD-II which was used on MAF engines. V-8s went that way in '94/5 (CA) but the 4.9L didn't until '96 (its last year ). Of course, MAF runs better... Check my sig link to see what I did. I have a '95 4.9L.
