1938 Ford Fire Truck

I have a 1938 Ford fire truck that needs work. Somethings I need to know are like what size chassis it is and how to tell, and numbers off the rear axle. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm guessing a 1.5 ton, what was called a Regular. Does it have 20 inch five lug wheels?? Is the transmission a non-synchronized four speed (Warner Gear T9)?

Could you post some pictures of the truck, I just pull a 38 or 39 ford Lumber truck turned doodlebug, out of my back yard and Im looking for references of larger 38-9 f series trucks that arn't pickups.

The F-series didn't start until 1948. Up until then, they were just Ford trucks.

Well I did more reading and found that mine is a 39, being that it has hydraulic Brakes, and a 100 horse 24 bolt flathead 8, So if the F-series didn't start untill 1948, than I guess that would mean that I'm looking for pics of 38-9 1 ton ford trucks

It does not appear that "OLDIE1120" is coming back?

I do hope so but it's been a while since his post.

SO I guess I'll post a picture or two of my 38 Firetruck that I finally just today struck a deal on, I have only been working to get to this point with the owner for over a year now!

I cant wait to get this thing home now. anyone know where to find a service manual or other helpful literature for these trucks? COE's especially.

I dont know much about these older trucks so I know I'll be asking lots of questions once I get it home.

Thanks

Josh

glad to see this truck going to a new home. has a lot of potential!! wheels appear to be in very nice shape, along with spares. sheetmetal looks tight. i, myself, would be adding mh driveline to this puppy. i think i might be jealous. lol

here's the donor for the MH setup too, but I don't think I would ever get around to putting the two together
