Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to get a truck cover? I park my truck under a carport but I would also like to cover it to keep the birds off. I would prefer to get testimonials from those of you who have one so that I can buy one that fits. I have a 61 short bed. Thanks.
I might get shot for saying so, but the ones from LMC Truck aren't too bad. I bought the more expensive one last year, and it has held up great. Couldn't find the damn truck for a couple days after DC got that snow storm last winter. Bed filled with water and ice after it all melted, and not a damn thing went through the cover. I was very pleased.
I actually found one at one of the local Advance Auto stores. Think it ran less then $50 (plus no shipping). Not heavy enough for a vehicle that sits out, but for your purpose it should work fine. I bought mine to hide the truck from the neighbors NOT for protection.
I tried an Advance one and it didn't last at all. Ended up going with a Max cover from an online company. It was around $160 but is holding together great. No water has gotten through. I'll have to get another one when paint comes around only because the rust is slowly rubbing it's way through with the wind and such.
FYI, I bought mine to hide from the HOA and the truck sits in my driveway through all the weather. Message me if you want the name of the company. I don't know if I can post it.
OP parks his truck under a carport, so he could probably get by with a less expensive one, unless he just wants to spend the money. I was giving him a less expensive alternative.
I do believe the sun had a lot to do with my Advance cover disintegrating. I agree with Gritsngumbo that would be a lot cheaper to try that route first. Advance did take mine back when I showed it to them as well.
No, if you're looking for protection from the elements you should go for a nicer cover. Mine are just covering project vehicles which have previously been sitting out in a field for 20 or more years. The sun does take a major toll on them.
