Having trouble with my 97 f 150 4.6. The truck will not turn over, when I turn the key and then press in the clutch, I get a clicking noise when the clutch is about 3/4 pressed. The click seems to be located at the center of the dash/firewall area. In the past it seems when I pressed the clutch in to start, it hesitated to start for a brief second, but always started. This did not happen all the time it seems. I usually turn the key first then press in the clutch. Recent maintainance includes a new battery and filled low clutch resevoir. Thanks for any advice.

 

Did you check the clutch safety switch? Make sure it is making contact.

 

Always put the clutch in THEN turn the switch.
