I have a 92 302 f150 i am going to be doing some more work on. so i realize that it would be best to fit the truck with mass airflow to get it to run right and get the right amount of power out of it. I will need the new computer and wiring harness for sure, i already have them of a 94 f150, but looking at the engines i noticed a couple other differences the main one being that the master cylinder on the mass air truck, my doner truck, has an electrical plug on it where as the non mass air truck does not. when i go to make the swap will i need this master cylinder or will the computer be fine not getting the reading from the master cylinder.
There are large differences in the engine wiring harnesses between these trucks so you will need the complete harness from the engine all the way back to the EEC. You also want to make sure both trucks have the exact same transmissions, it's not good enough to say both are automatic overdrives either because there were 2 different and non-interchangable transmissions used in these trucks which require different EEC's and wiring.
so even though there are a couple extra plugs and sensors as long as i have the wiring harness all the way back to the eec i should be fine. (they are both e40d tranny's so im good there)
i have switched the top end of my motor to a mustang HO intake and have fully rolerized the system and bored the engine 30 thousandths over. i realized that a mass air conversion doesnt normally give much power gain if any at all but do you think that with these changes i have made that i will unlock a couple extra HP because it can read all the extra air coming into the engine better now?
