How are the beaches out there in NC. (Nags Head). I am planning a road down to Nags Head NC, from Ontario Canada, this Aug. I was planning diving trip, but am rethinking my dive because of the BP spill.
The beaches there are next to none. My family have been visiting the area for the past six years. I hope to keep the tradition for years to come but am warried about the spill.
Can anyone out there give me a heads up on what to expect in the near future.

a concerned long time visitor to your lovely State and region.
I heard there's a possibility the oil could hit the Carolina's in a few months. No real data that I've seen though. The beaches are great right now! Water temp is in the mid to upper 70's.
I don't believe the oil will make it here heck it hasn't gotten to the FL gulf coast yet (atleast the last time I checked) so come on down..
Thanks for the invite. Hope you have plenty of beer on hand. Us Canadian's love our beer "eh".
We have booked our holiday time for the week of Aug. 22nd, in Manteo NC. Look for Canadian plates on a 2007 F250 4X4 Lariat crew cab (sand stone) honk if you see me.
Never made it out there as we always vacate to Myrtle Beach, SC But have heard that area is beautiful and less congested the SC beaches. I plan to make a trip there one of these years.
