preping a crome bumper

i have a old crome bumper that i want to paint.what do i need to do to make paint stick?

Preping your bumper

Ive personaly and my bud just did it to his new bowtie sandblast the chrome you dont have to blast the chrome off that would take a lot of sand just knock off the shine you will see it goes to a flat finish real quick we both used a good epoxy primer PPG DP 40LF then just prep the primer and paint to your choice I used # 4 blasting sand with a simple sears blasting rig

If you have a plating shop nearby that does bumpers, you can have them just strip the plating off. That's a simple and cheap routine for them, and will give you the best surface for painting.
