STUMPED Perfomax question
If so the orange connector is numbered. The orange wire goes in number 1, white goes in 2 and black goes in 3. Number 4 is left empty.
If that doesnt answer your question let me know. Also when I installed the gauges I used that stupid little platic tool they send you and at first 2 of my gauges werent working. The tool didnt push them in far enough into the connector to pierce the insulation on the wire. I ended up taking a flat head screwdriver and really pushing the wires in there.
Also where did you decide to mount the ESP module?
Lubbockguy1979 I was talking abour IssPro gauges that use a "junction block" called an ESP. Once it is installed they say you can daisy chain up to 16 gauges without running any more wire in the cab.
Maximum4x4 I agree that article is about as clear as the directions from IssPro. You would think that buying "top of the line" gauges would get you a little more detailed instructions, heck maybe even a few color photos.
1957F100 That is the information I needed. After you gave me the answer I see the reference in the ESP installation sheet. I can't believe I missed it. haha. quote THE ORANGE, WHITE AND BLACK WIRES ARE THE +7V........blah, blah, ......CONNECT TO THE CAVITIES1,2,AND 3OF THE ORANGE CONNECTOR RESPECTIVELY. unquote
The way I read it the first time I thought the black tool instructions
. I thought it was part of the assembly. I got 4 with 3 gauges.
Well it is all installed, well one gauge is installed and does not work. Got fire, got ground so it must be somewhere else. Tomorrow..
Thanks again!! Maybe Michael with IssPro will read this.
Also I am not sure if michael from Isspro is on the site. I know he is powerstroke.org and I have dealt with on there before. You can also email him. I have had some problems with my performax gauges and I dealt with him through email and he was very helpful.

Cover the basics and then injector install. The current stock injectors are on their last leg. No magic potion this time. This set has about 115k miles on them.

Another complaint while I am at it. Why not have mounting holes in all 4 corners of the ESP rather than just 2?
Found a little time to work on the gauges. I finally found the numbers on the orange plug and by dumb luck I had them installed correctly. Fuel pressure gauge still does not work. Got full time power, got switchable(new word?) power, good ground and dimmer wire hooked up. I checked the voltage where the orange wire connects to the orange plug and had 0V switched off and 7V switched on. Gauge pointer does not budge. Any words of wisdom, suggestions or ideas of what I can test now. I have a brand new $60 multimeter that tells me the same thing the 15 year old one tells me.
Thanks
If the gauge isnt moving at all I would say it would either be a connection at the back of the gauge or maybe the gauge itself is messed.
Like I said before when I first installed my gauges two of them wouldnt work. Turns out the wires werent pushed into the orange connectors enough to pierce the insulation of the wire. A good way you can check the wiring for that gauge would be to take one of the gauges that is working and plug it into the spot of the one that isnt working. If that gauge doesnt work then the problem is with the wiring. If it does work than something might be wrong with your fuel pressure gauge.
Edit-I just reread your post and saw where you said you already measured 7V at the orange wire. Are you checking the voltage on the back of the connector. or actually unplugging it from the gauge and checking it from the front where it connects to the gauge?
I thought about trying another gauge inthe slot, but did not try it because the other gauges I have are boost and EGT. Of course I could hook up the engine side one of those to check. At least eliminate one possible cause at a time. I will try to get time to do another today.
