Oil change

Does anyone change their own oil in their 6.4 PSD? If so what oil do you use? I also heard Ford will not honor warranty if they do not complete the maintenace, is this true? The reason I ask is I am thinking about having a local shop complete a transmission service on my truck. They want about half the money Ford does.

Thanks for your help.

I change my own oil, and I used Valvoline Premium Blue 15w40 the last time I changed it. I haven't had to have any warranty work done yet since I have owned the truck (since 1/10) so I can't comment on that yet.

You can have routine maint completed anywhere. Just have complete documentation is key. Ensure the shop you are thinking about uses the proper fluids and has it down as such on the work order. Make sure miles are documented.

Be careful about the trans and ensure they use the correct Mercon fluid for your trans. I change my own oil as long as the weather permits. Do your own fuel filters too.

Senix, what oil are you using and where do you purchase the filers. I called the dealership and they want $100.00 for the fuel filters.

Thanks again for your help, this site is awesome.....

Using Motorcraft 15/40 CJ4 oil and best to use Motorcraft Filters. I use Ed at www.partsguyed.com for Fuel filters and sometimes the oil filter too.

Wal-mart or autozone around here carry the oil filters from motorcraft.

If you have other dealers in the area check around. In my area one dealer wanted $70+, another $50+. Also check with an International dealer to see what they have.
