Like what u did with the shoulder straps, certainly look secure. Your truck is really looking good, obvious put some time into he/she. My 65 lwb also has the tool storage compartment but the prior owner took out the box to install auxilary tanks leaving just the door. Happens the stars where in alignment on 1, of many 'pic your part' shopping runs and salvaged another, removed the aux tanks now just a matter of installing the replacement. Did you have to replace any of the seals, or gaskets for the box, if so, do you recall the supplier? Any how, what a great job, your ride is looking mighty fine!!.
Thought I would inquire, still shopping for replacement seals/gasket. FTE member jeffloves250 had restored the storage box on his truck and from the brief description he emailed me sounded like it came out nice. Had to replace hinge pin, rust etched, regalvanized, included applying coat of 'Rhino' lining to the interior of the box. Mentioned an outfit located in the U.K., Seals Plus Direct that offers a 'p' gasket he felt would be an acceptable seal for the outside of the box. Also, and 'e' seal that may be acceptable for the seal between box and bed but he had not checked it out. I sent a piece of the seal to Restorationspecialties, Inc. and they returned an item they as close to the sample that they carry. I have not checked out the U.K. online catalog to compare but the 'p' seal sounds simular to the sample Restorationspecialties carrys. Anyhow, as noted, if, or when time permits will continue to keep an eye out for replacements; likely end up making something out of an excisting seal or gasket.
