ok so im looking for a new carburetor for my truck. Its got a stock 460, it will see some towing use but mostly just daily driving. I was looking at carbs at JEGS and found a few that look decent but i dont really know what i need. do i need to have the A/T kickdown? the ones i found with the kickdown are Holley 650 kit with line, Holley 750 electric choke, demon 625 road demon. i also found some edelbrocks that say they will it my truck but i dont know if its actually true. those are remanufacured edelbrock 600 electric choke, edelbrock thunder AVS 650 manual choke, edelbrock performer 750. will any of these bolt to a stock intake manifold? if none fit what manifold will i need. im really looking for a reasonably priced carb that will bolt on. if anybody has other recommendations im not limited to just these carbs. any help is really appreciated thanks.
I would just like to ask why? Whats wrong with the carb you have now? Are you looking for performance or mileage? Ha, shouldnt of even asked that one! lol
Im looking for some extra performance without having to spend a lot of money.
Extra performance and cheap don't go together. That being said, you'll need the kick down. Stock 460's came with a 600cfm carb. The bigger the carb you go, the more performance you'll have in higher rpm, the smaller the carb, the more low end you'll have. Personally, I prefer Holley's...they're wet flow tested, so their cfm ratings are truer than an Edelbrock. I'd also suggest throwing dual plane aluminum intake on to lighten things up a bit. So if I were you, I'd look for a 6-700 cfm carb with electric choke, vacuum secondaries and an intake.
