so here are the symptoms!
i have a well cared for tranny that is serviced every 20k since the day it was born. its does have 174k on it with only a shift kit added to it. (auto tranny)
the tranny has been shifting like the day i drove it off the lot until today.
i drove it this morning for about 10 miles without any issues.
the problem started when i accelerated from a dead stop-under normal acceleration it seemed like when it was ready to shift into 2nd it went thru 2nd into thind in seconds time so i was driving 15mph i 3rd gear and it rode fine in the rest of the gears going up! im really worried plz give any good news plz!

so it shifted to 2nd and then to 3rd real quick??? i have seen lots of these trucks do that, but that doesn't mean it's normal.. i hate when they do that really.. did it shift like that just once or is it still doing it?

VSS is on top of the rear diff. Pull it out, clean it off with a clean rag. New one is only about $30 from Ford.
Not sure how you can check the Range Sensor... I'm sure someone else will chime in who knows more than I do.
