AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
I awear to god. this truck is going to put me in my grave!Got rained out of work today so i figured i would use the whole day to do my punch list on https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...s-79-f150.html. But everything i touch gave me some sort of problem.
1. The bed liner primer never showed up today like promised
2. The new carb front bowl leaks
3. the clear site glass plugs they give you to use to set the floats broke off in the carb
4. Mounted the front bumper but half way thru tightening the bolts they galled up(by hand not impact)
5. The rear bumper carrage bolts that came from LMC are too small and spin in the square hole.
6. Replaced the crappy LMC hood seal with a Dennis Carpenter one, but 3 of the little clips broke off when i was putting it on.
I think the only 3 things that went right were
1. got the rear wiring harness taped, in loom and run to is correct locations
2. Stripped the tailgate and taillight trim
3. Got the bumper and brackets finished painted
I dont know if i can make it till sat for the show

A lot of guys have been having problems with the clear fuel sight plugs (Holley and Moroso) MELTING from the more modern gas.
The bolts that galled were stainless or chrome? We had a batch (ok 55 gallon drum) of stainless bolts that EVERY friggin' one would gall by hand or wrench even before the nut touched the lock-washer. RE-damn-diculous.

Sometimes you just gotta walk away and regroup. Last Friday I wanted to throw my wrench through the windshield.
Re-prioritize what ABSOLUTELY has to be done and what can be put off for another day. If possible, I'd work on the carb first.

I called it a night. i worked on the truck for about 10 hours today.
The thing is EVERYTHING needs to be done. It cant go to the show with
1 no bumpers
2 completely sanded down inside of the bed
3 no trim
4 and the whole truck needs to be buffed yet
5 carb not tuned(woulnt stay running)
I work 10 hour days and drive an hour each way, so i need to get as much done in what little time i have
O and i still need to strip the bedside trim and polish all of it'
put the inner wheel wells in, wheel well trim, new tires and wheels, mud flaps,front driveshaft, and try to get the bed liner sprayed if the primer ever gets here, figure out what i am going to do with these galled up bumper bolts,put the bed on and wire taillights, put rear bumper on, change oil, possibly change plugs(again),make body to frame grounds, and i'm sure there is 5 other things i am forgetting

Breaking those bumper bolts off is the best way I found to remove galled ss bolts.
As far as them spinning in the hole, I run into this all the time with plow cutting edges. We have someone hold a hammer butt on the head of the carriage bolt while we tighten the nut down.
I feel your pain with things going wrong... im sure we have all been there!
Couple weeks ago I tried every carb I had (6 total) on my truck trying to find one that didnt leak. Guess what? they ALL leaked, and to top things off one of the studs stripped out the Edelbrock intake!!!! ARGGGGGG $30 just to fix that! Damn heilcoils, why do you have to be so expensive!!!!

Just went to look at the whole thread you started, Looks like everything was going great. It's always at the end, when time is of the essence that our patience is tested. Wow that sounded pretty good. I may have to write that down somewhere.
Any how, I think you have done a great job to say the least, all that jazz being said and with the temper I have, walking away for even 10 minuets, grab a beer and go back at it , at least it helps me. GOOD LUCK
