4WD Light?

4WD Light?
Is there a light in the dash on a 79 to say that you are in 4wd? I have one plug left on my wiring harness under the truck and it comes to the t-case, but i cannot remember disconnecting it? And i cannot find anything on the t-case to plug it into. And no it is not the back up light, i got that plugged in already

I'd say no...I'm in the process of tearing apart my dash right now. Had to order a new instrument backing from JBG today, mine is crumbling. I took one out of my 75, found out it was different, but spent enough time inside swapping things to say there isn't a spot in either circuit board for a 4x4 light. JBG says the back plates are for 75-79, but my 75 was a bit different than the one I'm replacing in my 77. I don't know if there was another change some other time???

The full time 4x4 trucks had the indicator lamp on the dash.

And only the full time 4wd got the light. The harness was wired either way. The lock light was mounted below the dash in the center.

Its a good thing that ford 1970's isnt like ford now. Nothingon a truck now is beyond being elimanted from a new truck to save a few pennies.
Ask me how I know... My 04 sd had all kinds of wacky little things deleted that you dont notice until you start looking.
