hey guys i'm looking for some lightweight rims that also look good, and since i was never big into looking at rims, i don't even know any rim companies or which ones make rims for trucks lol so anyway... do you guys know of any lightweight and good looking rims? also how about sticky tires that are great on the road and at the track

some of the lightest wheels you will find for a truck of our size will be the Mickey Thompson Classic 2's or the eagle alloys like mine, but i can't remember the number for mine right now.. i'm pretty sure the classic 2's were lighter tho. For the tires, are you looking for an all terrain, street, or mud tire that fits your criteria? some good sticky all terrains are Nitto terra grapplers or Nitto dune grapplers, Pirelli scorpion A/T's, or BFG all terrains. some good street tread tires for the strip will always be Toyo Proxes!! If you want something even more for the strip than the street then you could go drag radials, but you won't get many miles from them at all..

all the highlighted ones are tires/rims i've been looking at
also, i will NEVER go with pirelli scorpion A/T's... my dad had them on his excursion for 2 years and they were HORRIBLE... the ride sucked, they wore very quickly, wouldn't even stick to the ground in his 100% stock excursion, got stuck in less than an inch of snow... but they were quiet and looked damn good i've always heard that the best 60' you can get with the proxes is only ~ 1.65 or so... which is good! but not sure if that'll be enough... i've also heard that the BFG all terrains surprisingly stick well at the track and have seen close to 1.55 60'... thanks for the info! i'm gonna look more into the nitto's since i've heard great things and the mickey thompson rims!
I'm disappointed in the AT's now.
My last set were okay, but they just didn't add up to the other tires I've seen. They are an old design made with cheaper compounds and less quality now.
Poor wear and traction compared to the Cooper Discoverer ATR's I purchased to replace them. Which I drove over 7k miles on without any wear on the tires.

You can also get in touch with Dennis over @ ITP.. he had custom wheels made for his race truck see who made 'em and see what it'll cost you.
when it comes to 60' times it's not just the tire you gotta look at. it's the truck itself. is this all going on your extended cab 4x4?? if so you may see 1.60's w/ proxes. a lot of guys with CC LB trucks are seeing around 1.65-1.70's on proxes so depending on how much less your truck weighs than a CC LB super duty will determine how your 60' times are.
I run the Pirelli's on my truck and they grip pretty good on the street, but i can't get the truck to launch on the drag strip. on the street they will spin a little if i launch it, but on the strip they hook and the truck starts hopping... no axle wrap, just starts hopping so i guess i need different shocks or some other way to keep it from hopping so bad.
If you think you need more than the proxes can give then i'd say try out the drag radials or go to full slicks when your at the strip and swap back the street tires for the street...
Toyo's are great tires, but the Proxes wear VERY fast if you drive them at all. Had a set of Proxes 4's on my '95 T-bird that was stock and wore them out in a year.

i wear out 2 Pirellis in a year.. the other 2 have been on here for almost 2 years now i think with the only wear being from what i think is the tie rods and ends having 313k miles on them. it's spading the front tires. the rears wear out pretty fast though somehow.
Wear in this case isn't what our OP is after i don't think. He is looking for good track times from a set of tires that he can drive on the street some. there are a select few sets of tires out there that can deliver that for us.
Just my .02. Those suckers wouldn't hook for nothing in my 95 or my 91.
how many times have you done a 4wd launch on the drag strip at 20psi of boost with the air pressure down aroudn 25psi? I'm betting none... tires perform A LOT differently on the strip than on the street.. remember the drag strip is sticky as hell??? LoL with a 2wd you would never see a 1.60 60' on stock suspension and anything less than drag slicks
