i just came across a 1989 f350 460 non dually crew cab with propane system for $1100 and it has 89000 original miles. the seats are torn up and the truck has been sitting for like 3 years but started up every ounce in a while with no issues. the owner started it up for me no prob we didn't take it for a spin because tags are expired and it was dark out. i was wondering if i should pick it up? and if yes what does it need he said it was running a bit rough compared to normal. something i know for sure im going to do is 1 check and make sure the odometer works 2 if i get the truck get oil change 3 run fuel injector cleaner threw it (its an EFI lariat edition) any advise would be ausome o ya one more question woud the truck be a good dayly driver or just a good tow anything truck?
Full tune up, all fluids and filters changed, no driving until that's done. Don't be surprised if the gas tanks are full of crap. Brakes, tires, chassis lube, check bearings and joints for play. Look for rust everywhere. I wouldn't really want to buy something I couldn't drive first, but if you're cool with it, I suppose it sounds all right. At least make sure that it'll go into gear and shift through them all. I wouldn't want it as a daily driver; it's going to get around 10mpg, +/- a little.
from what i saw with the last light of the day it had little to no rust and it didn't look cancerous its been in southern NM all its life from what i know so salt damage isn't likely i was planing on using it as a family truck/ haller/ tower and i use my 2006 Suzuki sv1000 as my commuter automobile. kinda want the truck becouse i love my 1994 f150 with the 6cyl but want something that can tow/hall anything. the price he is asking is half low nada value he just needs back the space in his yard... the stuff u said to look into i will look into just need to justify the purchase of the truck and is it worth the bad gas mileage for a BIG truck. another question is the propane worth keeping? because he is thinking of selling it to some one eltz and lowering the price on the truck if the person takes it
