binding up in reverse

does anyone who doesn't have a solid axle have problems with the tires toeing in and feel like the steering is bound while backing. i need new tie rod ends but i dont think that should affect it this severly.

Yes this is normal for the TTB and TIB front suspension, especially when the tie-rods are worn. Mine sinks down about an inch when I back up, and all my steering parts are fairly new with no slop anywhere...

Good luck on that one!! Anyone that has any knowledge about trucks, knows these axles are in demand, and fetch a decent price. Around here generally I can find a complete truck for not much more than the axle by itself.

Like stated, it's normal, it's because of the toe and caster, just pull forward a few feet and they should be vertical again.

-Enjoy

Greasing worn out parts is actually is not a good thing as it creates a false sense of safety - before the grease everything is loose, after you pump 'em up full things tend to tighten up (at least by feel of hand) so folks often think the issue is fixed. If any play is felt in the steering linkage I'd recommend replacing the offending parts ASAP, better safe than sorry.
