So for the last couple of weeks, my 04 F250 with a 6.0 has been surging at idle intermittently. When it happens, the idle would be a couple of hundred rpm high and the engine would act as though the turbo was producing power and then wouldn't. If you take it out on the road and run it up to 65-70 mph it would stop doing the surge. Then if you spent 30 minutes or so of driving around town it would start up again.
I took the truck in to have the transmission filter changed since its been awhile since its been done. Since it was changed, it hasn't done any surging. I've been driving around town for a couple of hours trying to get it to do the surge again.
The mech at the dealership didn't say that they had done anything beyond what I asked for which was the filter and checking fluids in the transfer case and diffs.
Has anyone has this kind of issue before that was traced to a transmission problem??
Sorry you fell through the cracks with no answer and Welcome to FTE. Your issue sounds like the ICP sensor located under the turbo or on the right valve cover depending on when the engine was built. Click here for a link to the ICP
